How to create strong passwords for your account
Strong passwords is an important protection to help maintain your MyDefenseLawyer.com account.
Length and complexity are the keys to password strength:
An ideal password is at a minimum 12 characters long and has letters, numbers, punctuation and symbols.
- The greater the variety of characters in your password, the better.
- Use the entire keyboard, not just the letters and characters you use or see most often.
Create a strong password you can remember
There are many ways to create a long, complex password. Below are suggestions that may make remembering your strong password easier:
- Use randomly generated passwords where feasible
- Avoid any password based on repetition, dictionary words, letter or number sequences, usernames, relative or pet names, romantic links (current or past), or biographical information (e.g., dates, ID numbers, ancestors names or dates).
- Include numbers, and symbols in passwords if allowed by the system
- Use capital and lower-case letters
- Avoid using the same password for multiple website logins
Avoid creating passwords using:
- Dictionary words in any language.
- Words spelled backwards, common misspellings, and abbreviations.
- Sequences or repeated characters. Examples: 12345678, 222222, abcdefg, or adjacent letters on your keyboard.
- Personal information. Your name, birthday, driver's license, passport number or similar information.
